editing v. proofreading
Editing is the process of refining the zero/first draft. The goal of editing is to make sure that the author is conveying the subject matter exactly as intended with no hindrance to the audience's understanding. As an editor, we will check for clarity, conciseness, consistency and accuracy in language & style, and flow.
Proofreading is the final revision stage of a text, after it has been edited. As a proofreader, we will check for and correct grammar, syntax, punctuation and spelling errors and inconsistencies throughout the document.
"Proof-edit" is a combination of both types of revision. For a comprehensive revision process, you may select this option.
